Christmas is not all about the fancily-wrapped gifts or the white, cottony-soft snow (the snow I only know is inside the freezer). It is about reconnecting with the ones close to our hearts. Just last December 14, 2011, the science department had fun making fun with each others bulging stomachs and idiosyncrasies. It was a moment of pure wholesome bliss... where time seemed to have stopped and all the deadlines did not matter.
Piles and piles of papers are waiting to be checked in the morning and the morning after... for eternity, but we will certainly remember this night.

New Party Venue
![]() |
| I just can't say no to this face. |
The epic battle between good and evil, a little boy's birthday party vs. adult teacher's Christmas party, caused animals in the safari to retreat in their hidey-holes. We don't want the already panic-stricken animals to be traumatized this season. So we'll raise our white flag and move to another safari adventure... just take a right turn, then a left and follow the yellow brick road that leads to Maxcey's Veranda.
Home of the tamer and well-mannered tranquilized safari animals, this is the Buckingham Palace of the great outdoors. No more gnawing on raw meat... we will fork (and knife, ooh elegant!) our way through dinner with delectable and more refined safari dishes. Sip some soup and forget about the harsh winter evening... let the vapors rip-open the time-space continuum and transport you to the wild African safari. Be dazzled by the array of mouth-watering rice choices: Plain or Fried. Work your way through the veggie section and reminisce the crackling of autumn leaves with Water Spinach Tempura, the beauty of spring with Caesar's Salad, the bounty of summer with Special Vegetarian Chopsuey, and the cold cold winter with a bite of Iceberg Lettuce.
Worry not my carnivorous friends, a plethora of meaty deliciousness awaits you. Golden nuggets of Fish Fillet, perfect right-angled portions of Chicken Galatina, freshly engineered Swordfish Kinilaw, peanut-buttery Kare-kare, pillow-soft Beef Mechado, deep-fried teeny shirmps and to top it all.... plump, juicy CR, wait for it, ABS (CRABS)! Yes, and it's not the little-Crabs-that-look-like-insects variety. The crabs are big enough that waiters provide diners with a metallic pliers thingy that cracks crab shells open. I never knew swordfish, chicken, shrimps and crabs are considered safari animals... tsk tsk tsk, years of education down the drain.
My litany of food is far from over... Scientists have recently found the fossilized remains of "The Animal Formerly Known as the King of the Jungle", TAFKAT-KOTJ. The short-lived feline was not known for his music, rather for his unconditional love for sweets. The dessert section of this banquet is served in honor of the Saber Sweet-tooth Lion TAFKAT. Among the former king's favorites are Buko Pandan, Mango Tart, Ube, Crema de Fruta, Ube-Langka Merengue Tartlet, Leche Flan, Fruits, Fruits and more Fruits.
One special food is known to have anti-predator effects... Pancit "for long life". Eat this and lions won't come near you... and did I say free fresh fruit juice? No? Well, I'm saying it now... Free Juice!

Science Christmas Safari 2011
Run with the antelopes and get chased by lions this holiday season at the Wild Safari Grill!
Unleash the beast within as you feast on the banquet of mouthwatering deliciousness: an array of grilled and stewed meat for the carnivores, salad and vegetable dishes for the herbivores (and the occasional "weight watchers"), mounds of pasta for the carbo-vores and nuts for the birds and squirrels. Take a trip down the waterhole and bathe in the awesome glory of the lemonade, iced tea, soda and ice cream... as far as the eyes can see.
As the great chieftain of the Zafarian tribe, Jujube Majimbu, would say: "The safari wouldn't be complete without ice cream, and it wouldn't be 'wild' without you." So take a safari ride this December 14, 2011 (from 6:00 - 8:00 pm) at the Wild Safari Grill.
Be in your best animal behavior. Rawr!
